About this project

A large-scale hard landscaping project for Trinity School in Clandown: an outdoor amphitheatre built into a grassed bank, with curved tiers of natural stone blocks for seating.

The job started with a stockpile of rough-hewn stone blocks and an overgrown bank beside a tarmac area. We excavated and shaped the slope, then set each block by machine into level, curving rows that follow the line of the bank.

Once the stone tiers were bedded in, the ground between the rows was made good and grassed, creating a natural, hard-wearing place to sit, gather and watch performances that blends into the surrounding landscape.
